Moss removal and soft washing in Worcester
At Tip Top Exteriors, we use soft washing to get a better, longer-lasting clean without damaging the roof. High pressure cleaning methods can cause substantial damage to a roof, it is not a recommended technique by roofing manufacturers and roofer associations.
Soft washing is a safe, gentle process for roof cleaning and restoration. We use an eco-friendly chemical solution designed to treat the specific roof moss and algae. Unlike high pressure washing, the process does not cause any damage to the roof. Soft washing not only cleans, but kills the bacteria at the root, and slows its regrowth process.

Step 1: Assessment
As part of our quotation process, we perform a risk assessment, and identify the cause of the moss growth on the roof. We will also look for areas of the roof that will need repairs before we can clean.
-
Step 2: Moss removal
We then remove the majority of visible moss from your roof tiles. We do this by hand, and using specialist roof scraping tools.
-
Step 3: Soft wash treatment
We apply an eco-friendly soft wash treatment to the roof tiles using our specialist soft wash equipment. The soft wash treatment will kill any remaining moss, algae and lichens that are still on the roof. This also forms a barrier which protects the roof from regrowth for years to come.
-
Step 4: Gutter clearing
To remove moss, we scrape the moss down the roof, some of which will enter your gutters. We make sure we clean up after ourselves, and will clear all the debris from your guttering.
-
Step 5: Clean up
We rinse any remaining detergent and debris from the roof. Your roof is now clean, secure, and protected from the regrowth of moss and lichen for years to come.
We always clean up after ourselves and promise to leave your property clean and tidy, as we originally found it after the cleaning process has been completed.
Roof cleaning can take 1-2 days depending on the size of your property. We will need access to a standard household plug, and ideally the use of an outside tap.
